Neewwwws Part 2

A few months ago, I reluctantly left my job at Disney to move to New Zealand, where I'm very excited to be working at Weta Digital. The experience has been amazing so far, I've met so many talented people and the work has been both challenging and fun.

In other news, I've decided to pursue another dream of mine: to become a kick-ass animator.  So, to learn from the best, I've enrolled in Animation Mentor.  I should be posting updates regularly on here to chronicle my progress (or failure) along the way.  My first term officially starts today, and I'm very excited. It's inspired me to get back into personal work as well, so look for more of those updates in the near future. I promise my next update will not just be about a new job :)

After spending two amazing years in Australia at Dr. D Studios ( may it RIP ), I returned to LA a few months ago to join Walt Disney Animation Studios!  I have joined the incredibly talented team as a Character Modeler for the upcoming film Wreck-It-Ralph.  I am very excited about the film, it is looking to be a great surprise from the Disney name.

In other news, the product of my time at Dr. D was just released into theaters, Happy Feet Two.  This was probably the best project I've ever been a part of, and I was very fortunate to share it with such an awesome and fun team at Dr. D Studios.

And lastly, a character model I started long ago that ended up being shelved in favor of my face rig.  I might do something with her when I find the motivation soon.

Face rig update

I've been on a bit of a hiatus lately, but managed to get back to this project again, starting work with a tongue rig. Still very much a work in progress, but here's a quick animation to test it out.

And a clearer shot of the wireframe:

Face Rig WIP

Here's a rigging/modeling project that has consumed much of my time lately, it includes the eye rig from my previous entry.  It's still a work in progress, but I've learned a lot in the process already.  Below is a simple motion test using some, but not all of the shapes that compose the rig.  More still to do!

Oh hi there

So, it's been a long time since I updated this thing, but I intend to fix that. I moved to Australia about 9 months ago and it's been amazing.

I've been working on quite a few things in my limited time away from work, which I'll post eventually if I am brave enough. Here's an auto eye rig with some built in lid-bulge I've been working on, it is part of larger project

Better updates coming soon..

An old update

A turtle I did for while in Montreal. It can barely be seen in the commercial, though.

I've been meaning to start poly painting in Zbrush, so I'm trying to bring this project back to life with a little bit of color. It's still early, but I'll keep at it!

Here's a small test I just completed on this crocodile-like creature. I would have liked to take it farther, but I want to move onto something else now. Click the image below to go to the animation:

Some sub-surface tests with Mental Ray

I have dug up this old project I posted on ZbrushCentral over a year ago. It’s slowly been going through the process of remeshing. I will probably never touch it again because I am getting really sick of this model.
Here's some shots of the progress, the last picture is the original zbrush file from ages ago:

And some older work models I've never gotten around to finishing:
